Wedding culture in Pakistan

in Cross Culture3 days ago

Hello everyone!!!

I hope so you all are fine and happy 😃

I think it's my first time that I'm going to share a post in this community as i want to share our wedding culture like how wedding happens in Pakistan as it's so much fun to attend the wedding ceremony in Pakistan.

Wedding culture in Pakistan!!!

Some of you guys and girl's who interact with me on Hive knows that last weekend I was busy in wedding ceremony as it was the wedding ceremony of my cousin which is a close relationship and we're invited there with family.

Wedding ceremony is continue for four days in Pakistan but if it's girl wedding then it's for five days because mostly girls add bridal shower as a event too but for boys it's for four days Dholki, Mehndi, Barat and walima. As i attended the ceremony from boy so we enjoyed it for four days.

Before 4 to 5 days, they're lightning to the house from inside and also decorated the house from inside.

Dholki!!!

It's almost a simple function held at house as they invite family, friends and neighbors on this event. Dholki is actually a night function and one ir two days before Mehndi where Aunt's play the Drum which we call the dholki.

We decorated the one wall and putting the sofa in front of this as it's just a small stage at home.

Aunt's play the dholki while cousins sister's and friends dance on this night and sing a song too.

Mehndi Event!!!

Actual wedding start From the Mehndi which we call Henna in English. Girls brings the Mehndi with the plates and large Mehndi thaal.

These small plates are for kids as they're easy to hold.

But these big thaal for elders and one Thaal can carry by three or four people. Something written on it's urdu which is "brothers wedding".

This is also a big thaal and on it "cousins wedding" was written. After bringing mehndi we do some photography and then have a lunch or dinner at the last.

Barat!!!

This is actually the main event when both bride and groom signed to spend the whole life together and this is called Nikkah. After Nikkah there's a lunch from bride family to everyone and after Lunch bride went with groom to their house and this is we called Rukhsati.

In short, Barat basically has Nikkah, lunch and Rukhsati on the same day.

Walima ceremony!!

This is actually a reception party from groom side to everyone like family, friends and even the bride family also invited to this reception party as a main guest.

First they served with cool mint margarita because weather is getting hot and this is best to serve. Then there's a proper dinner with several dishes while i didn't take pictures of foods.

This one was the stage for bride and groom as the restaurant was so beautiful. After the event bride and groom both went to the brides home for a few hours, some stays for a night if it's on distance.

This was me, And then wedding ceremony ended happily 🥰

That's all for today and all the pictures were captured by me.

Thank you for your time and support 🙏

You celebrate wedding for 4 or 5 days? That's huge. I wish the groom and bride a lovely and beautiful marital life, with much blessings.

Absolutely learnt something about Pakistani wedding. We're you playing the dholki or dancing?😀

I think, we all - especially Punjab side - shares thw same cultural wedding style. From colorful lights to dholki to fancy mehndis'. Btw, mint margarita as the appetizer is something new 😂.
