A disciple can be known as a follower of someone. To follow someone means to be indoctrinated into the person's beliefs. It means total submission to the person. Someone who disciples a person can be known as a discipler, but in the case of Jesus he was referred to as rabbi which also meant Master.
Someone cannot be a disciple of two different masters especially if what the two of them are saying are in contrast or not in resonance with each other. In order to be a disciple of Jesus Christ it means adhering to his teachings and doctrines alone. This means that we can't give attention to other teachings which are not of Christ.
A typical definition of a true disciple of Jesus Christ is one who represents Jesus. Being a disciple of Jesus Christ is a lifetime commitment. It is not something we do for a short period of time and then pull out. It is a continuous journey.
Jesus Christ had many disciples when he was on earth but only few were chosen because out of the multitude only these few were determined to walk with Jesus right till the very end. These few were the true disciples of Jesus Christ.
While others followed Jesus just because of the miracles and the signs and wonders, the 12 out of the multitude worked with him because they wanted more than just the miracles and the signs and wonders but wanted to identify with Christ and also wanted to be an expression of Christ even after he left the earth
