There are only two places prepared for humanity: Heaven and Hell. Heaven is a dwelling place of God prepared for those who are obedient and faithful to God's commandments. While hell is a place of eternal punishment, reserved for devil, his angels and all who does not follow God's will.
Every soul will either inherit eternal life in heaven or suffer eternal condemnation in hell. For us to know if we are going to heaven or hell after death, the journey starts here on earth. The manner of life we live on earth determines where we are going to after death. Therefore, for us to inherit eternal life, we have to be seen as people who follow God's will and obey his commandments, we must live a holy and righteous life as nothing defile shall enter into the kingdom of God.
As christians, if we want to go to heaven and if we want to be sure if we are going to heaven, we pass by the way to heaven, and that's through our Lord Jesus Christ: by accepting him as our Lord and personal savior, by doing his will and follow his teachings, by doing good to everyone and by living a righteous life.
Therefore, if we live according to God's word and have his spirit dwelling in us, we can be sure of our salvation.
