May God deliver us from addiction. Have you ever prayed such a prayer? If you have not, then you have not awakened to the reality of what is happening in our society. We are traumatized with the trauma of addiction. Addiction is killing the virtues of our youths. It is destroying the very soul of our nations. So, this is a problem that requires serious prayers. We have to arise together and build our society by asking God to save our youths from addiction.
Addiction is not something that someone can overcome with human efforts. We can combat evil with physical strength. It is the forces which are stronger than us that influence us and make us do what is not good. These influences are coming from the flesh and demonic forces. The flesh makes us do what is not good because of pleasure. The root cause of addiction is carnal pleasures. Because of pleasure we have brought much distress upon ourselves. So, to overcome addiction, we should be able to suppress the pleasures of the flesh.
Addiction can be overcome through the power of the Holy Spirit and by the Word of God. Yielding ourselves unto the Holy Spirit will strengthen our spiritual life. This spiritual strength is what will make our flesh to have the strength to resist the works of the flesh. The flesh wars against the spirit and does not allow us to do what we want to do. The flesh is the enemy of our spirit. It hinders us from fulfilling God’s purpose.
