When you read the Bible, don't just read. Try to meditate and understand with the help of the Holy Spirit. The Bible should not be read like a circular news paper. It should be read with the intention of understanding what is inside of it. We should not read the Bible like a story book aimed at entertaining our minds, we should study with the purpose of knowing what is there so that we can obey it.
The Bible is more than just a book. Its precepts are binding and its doctrines are holy. We are given the Bible so that we can fill our mouths and our minds with the Word of God which is able to make our lives become what God intends for us. The doctrines which are the guiding light for the church are written in the Bible. The commandments of God are communicated to us through the Bible. In the Bible we see the stories that explain to us how God related with men. So, reading the Bible should be for the purpose of understanding and following its instructions.
