A disciple is a student. A student is a learner. The teachings are what makes a learner or a student. What the person is learning from is what defines him or her. When we learn from our Lord Jesus Christ, then we will become his disciples. We are not his disciples if we are not learning from Him. We are not His disciples just because we call ourselves that. We are neither His disciples because we are identified with his church. To be qualified to be His disciples, we must learn from him.
The commandments of God must be our choice. If our hearts are meant to be the followers of Jesus Christ, let us choose to obey His commandments. Let us follow everything that he teaches us. Let us accept whatever is His will. Let us answer to His errand. Let us do what he ask us to do. The Bible teaches us that which is the commandments of God. Let us follow the teachings from the Bible. The Bible carries the instructions of God for our lives. Let us obey His commandments.
Anyone who does not obey the commandments of God is not his disciples. Jesus himself had told us that it is those who do the will of God that are His disciples. Every sheep follows the shepherd. Jesus Christ is our shepherd. Let us follow Him and obey His commandments. Let us trust and obey His commandments. Like the old hymns writer said: there is no other way to be happy than to trust and obey.
