Interrail through Europe - Let's begin! 🚄
Day 1 - Amsterdam 🇳🇱
Hi, I am backpacking Europe with 3 other girls. We travel only by trains, as it is a rule of the project we're taking part in.
The trip has officially began. We started from Warsaw at night to having a change in Berlin at 8 a.m. Before, we had met a guy who was really interested in our trip, took a picture of us at the station in Warsaw and asked many questions. He said: I wonder what will go wrong, because obviously something will. Yeah, sure, it did, but we made it anyway. The first train was delayed 40 minutes, which was actually cool, as we had a change at 6 a.m. and waited for it outside during a cold morning only for like an hour, not two. Then, in Berlin our train stopped one station earlier than it was meant to, and it turned out that it was the last station, so we had to catch another train. We ate breakfast waiting for the train to Amsterdam. On the train I made a mistake and thought we had no seats, only the tickets, even though I remembered buying them. The conductor was surprised when I explained it to her and confirmed that we had no seat reservations, because I had bought it on a wrong site. After a few minutes I found an e-mail where I saw our seat reservations, so we were okay, as it was a 7-hour trip to Amsterdam by that train.
We arrived and had only a couple of hours to visit the city and eat something traditional.
I found the city and country very unique, even when looking through the window of the train I felt like the Netherlands has its own, peaceful vibe. Only the city center was crowded.
We found out that there was a parade and some concerts going on, maybe that's why the city was so crowded.
Tried different types of cheese. There was a black one, which I particularly liked. It was a garlic flavour.
The city is so beautiful! We just wandered around and found some nice spots. This place is where we ate traditional fries with cheese and truffle sauce. Sooo delicious! I didn't even expect them to taste that good.
I really liked these tote bags, although I didn't buy any.
At the end of our stay we wandered around more, bought some souvenirs and a hot waffle, which I didn't take pictures of. Then we headed off to the train station to wait for the train to our next destination. 🤫
