I made this journey about 4 years ago (2021), i was traveling from Lagos to Owerri (Imo) because i had just gained admission into the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) to study statistics, and it was actually the first time i was traveling that long distance alone.
So that morning I got to the bus park as early as 6:30 am, bought my ticket and waited for the bus to fill up. Soon enough the bus got filled and we hit the road about few minutes past 8 (it was a Toyota Hiace bus). The journey seemed slow because we were caught up in traffic which is normal.
Since it was a very long distance drive, I listened to some cool music with my earphones also saw some movies too. As at 6pm we were just crossing the River Niger bridge (for those that know the route). I thought I had seen it all until we got to somewhere in Anambra where our bus brokedown, then we were transferred to a local commercial bus. Imagine the stress of transferring all the goods from one bus to the other mid-way. We continued the journey from Anambra to Imo in a local commercial bus only to be followed by a more severe traffic that lasted for a long period of time.
We struggled and persevered through the traffic and managed to arrive at Assumpta Control (Owerri) about 9pm, those that are familiar with the area knows it's a very dangerous place to be at that time, but thank God i was safe. I waited for my ride to pick me up to my final destination. I got to my final destination in Owerri about 10pm. It was indeed an interesting but stressful journey.... Thank you for reading and anticipate part 2
