RE: An American style ale for this week 441 beer Saturday challenge: Budweiser

in BEER2 months ago

During Prohibition, the United States government shut down all of the local breweries. After prohibition, a small number of brewers took over the whole market. So, there was only around six different beers in the US. Budweiser was one of them. They have massive industrial breweries which produce beer as a lower cost point to the small brew pubs that popped up in the last 30 years.

It is one of the better mass produced beers.

I don't drink many beers so, I usually reach for a locally brewed beer.

Wow, so why did they shut down those breweries? Was their products bad?

Progressive shut down all production o liquor. They closed all breweries, all distillers, all wineries and all bars with the belief that they could create a perfect society by eliminating alcohol. After prohibition the market was dominated by national brands.
