RE: The Uplifters (World Building Notes)

This is a great idea to solidify the characteristics of each race. In Star Trek, I enjoyed how each species interacted with each other and were often at odds because of their differing world views. So, I like this idea of tensions between the Doshans and the Alid. For some reason, this reminds of the quote attributed to Randall Munroe:

The universe is probably littered with the one-planet graves of cultures which made the sensible economic decision that there's no good reason to go into space - each discovered, studied, and remembered by the ones who made the irrational decision.

Sort:

That is such an interesting quote, I've never heard of Randall Munroe but I'm going to look into him.

I love the idea of cultures, and general world views, and I try to get a good idea of it so if I write from the perspective of someone from a particular world, it will feel different than other characters.

Triskani were the first I locked in on, to make them feel different than the average Human character.

The Triskani are reptile hunters, so a lot of their inner thoughts revolve around the idea of prey and predetors. Even if one was working in a shop they'd probably see each customer as prey; which I suppose we are... I'm occasionaly the victim of a good bargain
