On this Nineties Friday Gene & Ashlee bonus post we are sharing times from the first CD’s we ever owned! In both cases they were gifts and we were very very young so don’t judge 😄

Ashlee’s first CD 💿 was Ace Of Base “The Sign” record. Released in 1993 in the USA. It was a huge selling album and even Gene remembers getting it, everybody had it. It wa non stop on radio & MTV.

Gene got gifted the Spin Doctors first album “Pocket Full of Kryptonite”. After telling my sister I liked There songs on the radio she bought it for me in 1993. Funny that I’d end up recording and being at the drummers 40th birthday party 23 years later! Life is funny like that!

Little known fact, the Spin Doctors had two hits on the album b4 Two Princes. They played SNL and esp Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong was getting huge play on MTV & Radio. The label suggested hitting studio and doing new record fast. The band said Two Princes is a hit and needs to be the third single. Welp the band was right and Two Princes become one of the top 5 most played songs in the nineties’

Below we’ll share two songs each from said album above. One of the mega hit singles and one song that wasn’t as known. Ashlee picked a single as her bonus lesser known pick but it was the least successful single outta the 6 hits. Gene goes with a totally hidden gem as bonus that was never a radio song.

Let’s Go!
