I don't agree with this
However if we choose to do good always or as much as we can in each situation we encounter that is how we follow Jesus towards our salvation.
I don't see that in scripture at all. What I find is no one is good. No one seeks God. Nothing is outside of God's will (as seen in Job and all over scripture). Jesus said only God is good. Also, I don't think it is our salvation. It's secured in heaven for the glory of God and it's entirely His doing.
I also don't think we have "free will" in the sense that we think it is in the world. Scripture tells us we always choose sin. We are sin to the core. So, that doesn't sound "free" in the sense that we can choose anything else other than sin.
We are His workmanship. We are the clay. We are dead in sin. I think we have a ton in common, but I ground all in Scripture and I see no where in the context of what is being said that we can choose to do good. We only get credit for the bad we do. We can't do good without God. All things good come from above.
It's not about knowing something that others don't know. It's not an understanding. It's God pruning and shaping the vine. No one can save themselves or others. Just like the Ark. God deemed Noah and his family righteous. He picked them. Noah preached for 100 years and no one listened (God didn't choose them for mercy). Noah couldn't save a single person. And God sealed them in the Ark. God closed the door. Sealing them in their salvation that He did. Jesus is our Ark.
We are saved by grace through faith. It is a gift of God. It is not by works so no one can boast. Salvation is God's alone. Anything good is God's doing. Anything we "freely" choose is sinful.
