Okay, it’s been a month since I was away from Hive. I was inactive and doing some power-down—I didn’t want to do it, but I had no choice. In my previous post, I mentioned that I got into an accident where I cut my finger on the G.I. sheets we used for our thesis.
The good thing is that it’s fine now, and I only feel a bit of pain compared to before. Unfortunately, when I got into the accident, I also accidentally broke my laptop. I was carrying my laptop bag on my back, and when I collapsed, the first thing to hit the ground was my laptop.
I initially thought everything was fine, but a few days later, when we needed to use it, I found out that the LCD was broken. I had no idea where I would get the money to fix it.
I didn’t have a choice—I had to fix it because I needed it for our thesis and other design subjects. Then I remembered that I had some money on Hive.
The good thing is that I had powered down a few months ago, hoping to use the funds for margin trading. But things didn’t go according to plan, and I had to use the money to fix my broken laptop instead.
In total, I spent Php 8,500.00 to buy a new LCD, including the labor. I had to find an MSI service center and ended up contacting someone from Megamall. He claimed he was from MSI, but when I got to the mall, he brought me to another stall that sold phones, tablets, and other gadget accessories. They also had a technician who could fix phones and laptops.
I know I spent a lot, but I really needed the laptop at the time. Now, I’m wondering if buying this laptop was worth it. It will be two years old this coming August, and I haven’t earned enough money using it to even break even on the total expenses.
However, it has helped me a lot with schoolwork and saved me time because of the convenience. So in some ways, I feel it was worth it. I just really want to earn money using it. So far, I’ve only earned through Hive. Still, writing blogs on this laptop is much easier and more efficient than using my phone.
Technically, I’ve now spent a total of Php 54,500.00 on this laptop, including the repair costs. I just hope I can maximize its use and recover my investment so I can buy more Hive soon.
By the way, you might notice a power-down spree on my account—I have a lot of graduation fees and thesis-related expenses coming up. I’ll make sure to buy more Hive once I have a stable source of income.
I can say it’s always nice to have savings and funds for rainy days like this, but I admit that I’ve mismanaged my money recently. I hope to get back on track and stop spending on unnecessary things.
And yep, this is just a little life update. If you’re still here, thanks for reading!
