I had an accident

It’s been two weeks since the accident happened.

We met early with my groupmates in thesis so we could prepare everything needed for our thesis.

We still needed to buy some materials that we could use to accomplish our self-test. Heck, it was very exhausting walking through different markets to find the best and most affordable materials for our study.

We ended up buying two galvanized iron sheets with 1.5 mm thickness. It was one of the requirements following the standard procedure for our testing.

Going back, I was the only guy in our group. I was the one carrying the G.I. sheets. We went to our groupmate’s house to prepare everything. I was carrying the G.I. sheets on my shoulder, and when I was about to put them down, I cut my finger.

Yes, the sheets cut my thumb. Thankfully, I didn’t lose it. I rushed to the faucet and let my blood flow into the water. I think it was one of the worst things I did—aside from cutting my own finger. Suddenly, everything was turning, it went black, and I fell to the ground.

Everything happened in less than 10 seconds. I felt myself having a seizure. Everything went back and I regained consciousness. I was smiling so everyone wouldn’t be that worried. I saw their worried looks.

They said I collapsed and had a seizure. They were thankful that my head didn’t hit the bamboo chair near me.

The bleeding stopped. They put gauze on my wound and told me to go to the hospital. I was having second thoughts about going. It was around 2:00 PM and we still had a lot of things to do. We rested on the chair and ate our lunch first.

They had iced coffee. I told them I wanted one too. They were hesitant at first because they said I might palpitate. I said no. I think that was the third stupid thing I did, because after finishing the drink, I felt dizzy and my heart started beating fast.

I think I palpitated. I was overthinking and I couldn’t breathe—but I didn’t tell them. I stayed calm and talked to them to divert my attention.

After calming myself down, I decided to go to the hospital. We went to the emergency room for assistance, and they helped us immediately. They even gave me the list of everything we should buy, including anti-tetanus.

The doctor said they would use a sterile strip, but none of the pharmacies we visited had it, so they decided to stitch it instead. We waited for my turn until the doctor started stitching my deep wound.

The first stitch was done, but the second one wasn’t. The doctor said I had thick skin, so she would staple it instead.

In the end, I had a staple on my finger. Everything was done, and the doctor said I had to go back after one week to remove the staple.

You will notice the healing of the wound over time. As of now, it still hurts when I bump it into something, but I know that there's progress. Here's the current image as of editing this blog post (today).

Having it was hard. I couldn’t function well at the time and couldn’t do the tasks I needed to. I was thankful that my girlfriend and her family were there to help me since my parents couldn’t go.

Now, the staple is finally removed. I had to go to the hospital three times just to get it taken out. Since I have classes, I only had limited time to go to the hospital. Thankfully, it was removed on my third visit.

It’s a long wait at public hospitals since you have to wait in a long line of patients. I went at 8:30 AM and had the staple removed at 1:00 PM. I even wrote this post while waiting in line so I could still be productive.

But anyway, it was an experience I don’t want to happen again. It was hard not being able to move freely since I had to consider my fingers.

Plus, I broke my laptop when I got into the accident—but I’ll share the whole story in my next blog post. I used my sister's laptop on the picture above (Acer)...as you remember, I have an MSI laptop.

If you're still here and reading, thank you!
