It's funny how just a month ago I was asking the question if someone had to choose, would they rather have good food or good drinks. The reason for this is my wife and I had a date night planned, but we only had two hours. We wanted to go to a speakeasy downtown, but two hours wouldn't really be enough time for food and drinks. We ended up getting food and taking a rain check on the drinks.
Fast forward to a month later and we get a whole evening to ourselves. We went out to a steakhouse for dinner, then proceeded to visit Thick As Thieves.

You find the entrance by going through an unrelated bar and head upstairs into a hallway. At the end of the hallway is a phone. You pick it up and dial "102," and wait for someone to pick up the phone. Tell them you're there for a drink, and the wall to your left opens and you're allowed inside.
They give you a cocktail menu and a blacklight keychain.

There are drinks hidden in the menu that are only revealed by the blacklight.

It's very cleverly done and classy.
I started with the Amaro Float, and it was delicious.

My wife ordered a Cosmo Highball. I liked it so much I got myself one.

We played cards for a while and ended up getting a snack tray.

After that, she ordered a King Pine, and I finished the night with a Southside Braul.

It was a very mellow atmosphere. The bartenders were friendly and had a great sense of humor. The drinks were delicious and it was a great time. We're already planning to go back, and make it our hockey post-game hangout while we wait for traffic to die down. If you're ever in downtown Boise, I highly recommend visiting Thick as Thieves.
