The idea of Fondue seemed odd to me before I tried it. I understood the premise of cheese, melted in a pot, but to have that be the sole focus of dinner was a foreign concept to me. For my birthday, my wife and went to The Melting Pot. She had gone once years ago, but I had never been.

I selected the cheese without issue, but I was thrown off by the fact there was a meat course with a broth. I went with various cuts of steak and asked for a suggestion on the broth to use, since I was clueless. I ended up picking the Coq Au Vin at the server's suggestion, then we chose the Flaming Turtle for dessert.
The cheese was fantastic! The addition of Worstercire sauce really brought out the flavor of the Wisconsin cheddar. I especially liked the addition of the Sam Addams Boston Lager. The veggies weren't my forte, but you can't go wrong with bread dipped in cheese.
The main course started to make a lot more sense when I saw it placed in front of me. I was given extra skewers, the broth was brought to a boil on the table, and a plate of small cuts of pre-seasoned steak were set in front of me. A quick scan of the QR code on the menu to my right brought up their website and a cooking timer for each different cut of meat. Genius! I got to work quickly. My favorite combination was the Teriyaki steak dipped in a mild gorgonzola Tatziki sauce. Creamy, tangy, sweet and salty, all in one bite!

The dessert was fantastic! You can't go wrong with anything dipped in chocolate, but they got very creative! There were rice krispy squares, fruit, brownies and more! My favorites, aside from the brownie bites, were the waffle bites and Oreo-coated marshmallows! It was rich, creamy, and great way to end a very unique dining experience. It's not cheap, but I'd certainly do it again for a special occasion!
