Ecency has lost me completely

After v3.ecency.com has been unavailable since the other day, the new version has now been “improved” again, so I'm giving it up completely. If you don't read here regularly, then perhaps first read My time jump experiment

Ecency just doesn't work for me anymore. I loved version 3! The new version already contained some “innovations” that put me off, while some fundamental features were simply riddled with bugs. There were definitely too few testers (or they weren't heard), and if that's on me and I have to be blamed for under-reporting bugs, then good night. We have a whole ecosystem in front of us here. I'm no longer doing this for a few cents.

Now the new editor has been introduced, which no longer shows a preview but preaches WYSIWYG. But that doesn't work either. Right now I just wanted to replace an image because I had to make corrections for the day before yesterday and yesterday. But I can't get to the markdown source text. A small move that became impossible.

Not to mention the fact that the HTML jump mark no longer works either. It still worked in V3. Even @PeakD does not manage to keep such basics of the Internet intact. Worse still, @Ecency now even destroys my source text when editing in the new editor and converts simple MarkDown and HTML formatting according to its own ideas. This destroys even more of my work and my time.

As I now explore the tragedy more closely and use the editing history function that still works well in Ecency (cover picture), I notice the function that allows me to access the old editor (picture 2). But why should I invest my time in searching and hoping when my trust in the development of a once wonderful innovation on Hive has been lost so chaotically for so long and so often?

I will now refer to posts from outside Hive via Hive.Blog again, no matter how “innovative” you think your view of Hive is. I write multilingual posts, and nobody looks at them who doesn't use Hive yet and can't intuitively use a jump label. And not even Hive.Blog manages to leave the jump label unchanged. Instead of _self, the link is opened in _blank, i.e. in a new window. But at least the target marker works when a post link is opened from outside.

I don't yet know which frontend I will use for the revision. At the moment Peakd works, although the convention extended by @Actifit and Ecency to allow more than 10 tag keywords throws me into old challenges there. 10 has long been far too few!

Hive.Blog only allows EIGHT of them! Which five should I remove across the board just to be able to edit a post that already contains more than ten for many reasons? Word clouds can be very useful if they are large. But many people have very different ideas about this - and rightly so. I don't want to discuss this any further here.

In any case, I would like to see front-end editors that reliably do not try to “improve” the basic functions of the Internet. Surely a simple jump label must be possible?

What a huge mess! After all the trouble with the frontends, I'd like to make a note of what's important to me and where I can get it:

Unfortunately, Ecency is completely out for points 2 and 3. In version 3, both still worked reliably. What's more, all this has taken up a lot of my time again, so I want to use my day for other things as quickly as possible.

As for my late-night internet research, I've found some amazing things. The internet is definitely more than YouTube, X and Instagram.

In the meantime, I had finally finished my evening work, which had dragged on for a long time today, and went to bed late again. Housework is the order of the day, and I'm keeping myself busy with Hive! I had already done my tongue scraping, oil pulling, Qigong and a fresh shave beforehand. I've also been drinking a lot and taking magnesium and vitamin C supplements. Unfortunately, exercise in the garden has been ruled out due to the weather. I will now have a hot lemon and get to work around the house.

Ecency hat mich komplett verloren

Nachdem seit neulich v3.ecency.com nicht mehr erreichbar ist, ist die neue Version nun nochmal "verbessert" worden, so dass ich es komplett aufgebe. Liest Du hier nicht regelmäßig, dann lies vielleicht erstmal Mein Zeitsprung-Experiment

Ecency funktioniert schlicht nicht mehr für mich. Ich habe die Version 3 geliebt! Die neue Version enthielt bereits einige "Innovationen", die mich abgeschreckt hatten, während einige fundamentale Funktionen schlicht von Fehlern durchsetzt wurden. Es gab definitiv zu wenig Tester (oder sie wurden nicht gehört), und wenn das an mir hängt und ich mir nun einen Vorwurf daraus machen lassen müsste, ich hätte Fehler zu wenig gemeldet, dann gute Nacht. Wir haben ein ganzes Ecosystem hier vor uns. Ich mache das nicht mehr für die paar Cent.

Nun ist der neue Editor eingeführt worden, der keine Vorschau mehr zeigt sondern WYSIWYG predigt. Doch auch der funktioniert nicht. Grad jetzt ging es mir nur darum, ein Bild auszutauschen, weil ich für vorgestern und gestern Anlass für Korrekturen hatte. Doch ich komme nicht an den Markdown-Quelltext heran. Kleiner Handgriff, der unmöglich wurde.

Jetzt gar nicht anzufangen davon, dass auch die HTML-Sprungmarke nicht mehr funktioniert. In V3 ging das noch. Auch @PeakD schafft es nicht, solche Grundlagen des Internet heil zu lassen. Schlimmer noch, @Ecency zerstört nun bei Bearbeitung im neuen Editor gar meinen Quelltext und wandelt schlichte MarkDown- und HTML-Formatierungen nach eigenen Vorstellungen um. Das zerstört noch mehr meiner Arbeit und auch meiner Zeit.

Als ich die Tragödie nun näher erkunde, und die bei Ecency noch immer gut funktionierende Funktion der Bearbeitungs-Historie nutze (Titelbild), fällt mir die Funktion auf, in den alten Editor kommen zu können (Bild 2). Doch was soll ich noch meine Zeit in Suchen und Hoffen investieren, wenn derart lang und oft mein Vertrauen in die Entwicklung einer einst wundervollen Innovation auf Hive derart chaotisch verloren ist?

Ich werde außerhalb von Hive nun wieder per Hive.Blog auf Beiträge verweisen, egal für wie "innovativ" ihr eure Sicht auf Hive haltet. Ich schreibe mehrsprachige Beiträge, und die guckt sich niemand an, der Hive noch nicht nutzt und nicht intuitiv eine Sprungmarke verwenden kann. Und nichtmal Hive.Blog schafft es, die Sprungmarke unverändert zu belassen. Statt in _self wird der Link in _blank geöffnet, also in einem neuen Fenster. Doch wenigstens funktioniert die Zielmarke, wenn ein Beitrags-Link von außerhalb geöffnet wird.

Welches Frontend ich zur Überarbeitung verwenden werde, weiß ich noch nicht. Im Augenblick funktioniert Peakd, wobei mich die durch @Actifit und Ecency ausgeweitete Konvention, mehr als 10 Täg-Stichworte zuzulassen, dort in alte Herausforderungen wirft. 10 sind schon lange viel zu wenig!

Hive.Blog lässt gar nur ACHT davon zu!? Welche fünf sollte ich denn pauschal entfernen, nur um einen Beitrag bearbeiten zu können, der aus vielerleih Gründen bereits mehr als zehn enthält? Begriffswolken können sehr nützlich sein, wenn sie groß sind. Doch davon haben viele ja auch sehr unterschiedliche Vorstellungen - und auch zurecht. Das will ich hier gar nicht weiter diskutieren.

Ich wünsche mir jedenfalls Frontend-Editoren, die zuverlässig die grundlegenden Funktionen des Internet nicht zu "verbessern" versuchen. Eine simple Sprungmarke muss doch möglich sein?!

Was für ein riesen Drucheinander! Nach all dem Ärger mit den Frontends will ich nun doch noch mal festhalten, was mir wichtig ist und wo ich es bekomme:

Bei Punkt 2 und 3 ist Ecency leider komplett raus. In Version 3 hatte beides noch zuverlässig funktioniert. Zudem hat mich das alles hier nun mal wieder viel Zeit gekostet und darum will ich schleunigst meinen Tag nun noch für andere Angelegenheiten nutzen.

Was meine nächtlich noch fortgesetzte Internet-Recherche betrifft, bin ich auf erstaunliche Arten fündig geworden. Das Internet ist definitiv mehr als Youtube, X und Instagram.

Inzwischen hatte ich meine abendliche Arbeit dann endlich erledigt, die sich heute mal wieder zäh hinzog, und war wieder erst spät ins Bett. Haussitten ist angesagt, und ich halte mich mit Hive auf! Mein Zunge Schaben, Ölziehen, Qigong und eine frische Rasur hatte ich zuvor bereits erledigt. Viel getrunken habe ich auch bereits und sowohl Magnesium als auch Vitamin-C supplementiert. Bewegung im Garten fällt aufgrund des Wetters leider aus. Ich werde mir jetzt eine heiße Zitrone und mich an die Arbeit im Haus machen.
