You ever have one of those walks where every step feels like it’s being charged to your energy credit card? That was today.
I left later than usual, life had other plans. Meetings, tasks, distractions… you name it. And when I finally laced up and stepped out, I was expecting the usual mind-clearing, energy-boosting stroll. Nature therapy. Endorphins on tap.
Instead? It felt like my body had secretly signed a non-compete with gravity. Legs heavy. Mood meh. No walker’s high, no rhythm, just me, the canal path, and a creeping sense of “why does this suck?”
But here’s the thing: I still went. I still moved. I still got fresh air and a front-row seat to one of autumn’s better sky performances. The trees wore fire-orange like runway models, the canal was glassy calm, and the sky, a soft, brooding blanket of cloud, was weirdly comforting.
Not every walk will make you feel like a champion. Some just remind you you’re human.
Today wasn’t about distance or pace. It was about not letting the off days win.
Tomorrow’s a new one. Maybe lighter feet. Maybe better flow. But I’ll still show up. That’s the real reps.
