When Your Calendar Does Cardio

Today was less “athlete in motion” and more “project manager with wet socks.”

The morning started with the standard eight hours of work. Nothing glamorous, just the daily grind that pays for physiotherapist appointments, ophthalmologists, and emergency haircuts that somehow all land on the same day. Me and my daughter at the physiotherapist. Nathalie and I at the ophthalmologist. Our son and I at the hairdresser. A family tour of the healthcare and grooming industry.

Efficiency level, high. Energy level, questionable.

The weather decided to contribute absolutely nothing. Ice cold, steady rain, a sky painted in fifty shades of nope. The first photo captures that mood perfectly, a bare tree leaning over a narrow ditch like it is reconsidering its life choices. The second, a steel tower cutting through the grey horizon, stubborn and unbothered. The third, the canal stretching forward beside the path, quiet and indifferent.

That canal walk was the only one today. Not heroic. Not epic. Just necessary. I walk nearly every workday, so this was not some grand comeback story. It was routine squeezed between obligations. The wind had opinions. My fingers lost feeling halfway through. The path was slick, the fields wide and empty, and honestly, it looked like a landscape designed by someone who really enjoys the color grey.

Still, step by step, the counter kept climbing. Past 6k. Past 7k. Over 8k.

No dramatic breakthrough. No cinematic sunset reward. Just me, the cold, and a quiet agreement that busy does not mean stationary.

By the time I got home, I had seen three medical professionals, one hairdresser, and approximately zero rays of sunshine.

But hey, at least the canal did not charge a consultation fee, rather the contrary, it paid me in energy!

that is a bussy day indeed , we are scheduled for the ophthalmologist on friday to check on the wifes progress after the 2nd cataract surgery 2 weeks ago. So far it looks like she will be able to do a lot more without my help again .
