Hello guys. Yesterday was one of those days for me. You know when they say that everyday can't be Christmas. Those days that refuse to be Christmas.
Before the day, I had been discussing with a client who is also a corps member about painting his apartment. From discussion day 1, it had been clear to me that he is one of those guys who aren't ready to pay well for a good job but wants the best outcome. Eventually we agreed on a price, although the pay was way lower than what any painter would take for painting the walls, ceiling and also vanishing of the wall, but I considered anyway since he was only a corps member and he doesn't happen to have much. Yesterday was meant to be the work day
My plans
My plan was to wake up early in the morning, leave home around 8am, buy the paint and also the varnish gum then head over to the location to paint the apartment.
Turn out of the day
When I got to the paint store. I got the paints but I couldn't get the vanish gum, so the guy directed me to another shop where I could get it. It's a little bit far but a walkable distance, so I decided to go there. On getting there, they said they don't have it, so I had to walk back.
The guy at the paint store also directed me to another store at a relatable distance to the first place but in a different direction. I went there and still couldn't get it.
At this point, I was already feeling tired with a little bit of regret to why I agreed on the price, it was just too small compared to the stress I had gone through while I am still yet to start the main job. At that point I had taken over 7,000 steps on my actifit app and it was just 10am.
I knew a sure location where I could get the Varnish gum but it's far, I would have to spend a reasonable amount on transport to and from just to get it, if I had enough pay, I would have gone. But what would be left for me after work. I told the client about it on the phone, and he was trying to persuade me to go get it but he wasn't willing to add money.
At this point, I wanted to return his money but the paint store guy told me that there was another place in the environment where I could get the varnish gum. So I decided to give it a last try, the distance was surprisingly more than the first two places I have been to. Low and behold, I got there and still couldn't get it. At that point, my clothes were already wet with sweat. Even if I got the varnish gum, I wouldn't have had the strength to do the job. I had been roaming for over 2 hours in the early morning sun.
I told my client about it. I transferred back his money and went home. He offered to pay for my transport to the Paint store and back home but I declined.
That was how my day went. I was tired for the day, but I understand that everyday can't be smooth and rosy. It's just one of those days....
