I've been on site supervision for the past one week. My boss has not been around so instead of going to the office, I have been asked to supervise a painting project in one of the sites he was contracted to.
So far, the project hasn't been that smooth, but work has been going on. We are painting a commercial building, with 3 floors. And my work is to make sure the painters do their work regardless of my bosses absence, take any complaints or needs from the workers and report to my boss for resolving, and be around to communicate with the engineer that contracted my boss when she comes, to explain what's going on and also take notes of what she wants and report to my boss.
So basically, I was the connection between the engineer, my boss and the works. Although, it wasn't a stressful job. All I have to do is sit somewhere, and observe the workers, and at intervals.. I move around to see what they are doing. Then when the engineer comes, I move around with her and take notes of whatever she says, but I didn't really enjoy it. I am an activity type of guy and not an observation type, sitting down and observing gets me bored. I like to be the one doing something in whatever project I'm working on.
Although all these are an added experience, and exposure. We finally finished the project yesterday, so I can finally resume in the office tomorrow and have time for my personal projects too.
