Conditions here in the UK are unusually dry. The small ponds are drying up, and track conditions are very dry and dusty. Another thing to mention is that this makes the going very hard and bumpy.
This bridge is an example of how dry the ground is. In mid winter, there would be an area of swampy ground here, even a small pond. It is so dry that I easily cycled past this bridge!
Later, along my ride, I needed to pass through a graveyard. I thought I could get around the perimeter, but there was no way through. It's not a problem as I am not superstitious! 😆.
Yet another gate to negotiate. This is both a nuisance and a necessary obstacle, as long as I can get through with my bike. This one is a relatively new one, well designed, easy to open, and pass through.
Occasionally, my rides take me through open spaces like the sports field in my picture. This is a nice change from windy woodland tracks.
There is usually a convenient exit on the far side, but it can be hidden sometimes, so I need to search. That's the fun of riding new places.
Todays conditions were so good, but there was only one thing wrong. I had no one to share it with! 🤷♂️. Too bad.
I covered nearly 20 miles in just over two hours today. An average ride for me. My fitness app assessment says it was a recovery ride! It felt comfortable but not that comfortable! 🤣
