It seems a long time since I took a bike ride. Due to unforeseen circumstances and a spell of ill health It has been about three weeks. So today everything fell onto place and there were no more excuses!
The sun was getting low as it was about 5 pm, but it was dry and warm. In fact, it was perfect for sports like cycling, with no wind. I did not have enough time though to go too far as daylight was shortish, so I cycled one of my regular mid-length routes.
I wasn't far into the route when I came across a large fallen tree completely blocking the track. Seen from both directions in my photos, and when this happens in the woods a new path appears as if by magic, as people pass by.
Moving onward into private property clearly marked with a bridalway sign. Ok for cycling but not a public road. This is common, and also footpaths too but technically, marked footpaths are not for cycling, so care must be taken where these public paths go through private property.
The private road takes me through a nice area of countryside until it meets a road, again with a gate to exit. A short ride along the road and into the woods again. Downhill now and the chance for a breather as I freewheel most of the way along a dusty track.
There were lots of overhanging brambles, as is always the case at this time of year. I received a few scratches on my arms passing through the narrow sections.
This was a good opportunity to get out on my bike again. The distance was just right to ease back into riding.
