I took a cycle ride today in the afternoon sunshine. It was a lovely early October day with temperatures about 17°C.
This time of year, there are many fungi to be seen, and I spotted several different ones today. This reminded me of a post that I submitted several years ago featuring the famous fly agaric mushroom.
Low and behold, as I turned a corner and exited the park through a boundary fence, I spotted a perfect example of the Amanita muscaria or commonly known as fly agaric! A lovely specimen indeed. It was just next to the path, and I was amazed that it had not been interfered with like many that I see.
I carried on with my ride through a wooded area with a carpet of tree litter on the ground. It was like I was the only person around. There were no signs that anyone had walked here at all!
I thoroughly enjoyed this ride today. I didn't ride far, about ten miles, but my route was planned to take me through local woods and parks. I like to limit road riding as much as possible to make it more fun and to limit the danger of riding on the road.
That was fun, and it won't be long before I'm out on my bike again. It is good to make use of the nice dry conditions out there in the countryside.
