I usually plan to do my cycling in the afternoon or evening in the summer months, but today, it was more convenient for a morning ride.
It started out overcast and even a slight drizzle in places, but the sun came out while I was in the deep forest, which provided a superb photo opportunity.

The scenery in autumn is wonderful, and today was no exception. With no breeze at all, it felt so comfortable for cycling.
I passed the small lake in Goffs Park, where a couple of seagulls were resting. A chance to test the zoom on my mobile phone. Not bad at all!

A few roads and cycle paths later, I arrived in Tilgate Park, where I quickly headed out into the open forest away from the more commercial areas. I stopped in a lovely pine tree plantation where the moss was thick on the ground and the forest litter of pine needles was like a cushioned floor!

A beautiful place by any standards.

After that, a spell of uphill riding to get to the highest point for today, where the forest opens into a clearing for electric pylons. There is a marked cycling route through this part of the forest. London to Brighton cycle route 21.

A short while later, I spotted a birds egg! It looked like maybe a crows egg. I was surprised how late in the season that birds starting new clutches of young. It must be the very mild weather for October.

Moving on through some nice tracks towards my exit and back home. It has been a nice ride this morning. I can hardly wait until next time! 😄
