I'm so looking forward to the warmth of spring! As I walked today in Worth Park, I passed a sign which was displaying the message, 'Pardon the weeds, we're feeding the bees'. A reminder of the beautiful wild flowers that were allowed to flourish here last summer. The local park attendants set aside patches of ground for seeding with wild flowers every year to attract bees and other insects. A really good idea.
Another thing I noticed were some more katkins hanging on a bush. This variety is not known to me but looks great with very long tentacles hanging there. I will keep an eye on this over the coming months. It is an evergreen shrub, of which there are many others here.
There is still a long way to go until winter is over so perhaps it's best to just to observe the changes and not get too excited yet! 😂
