
One of the few plants that are blooming is this one featured in my photo and found in Worth Park Gardens. I don't know the species or variety it is but there are some other ones with different coloured bell shaped flowers. I have seen this plant somewhere else before but it is not a common one.
I think it is used as a ground cover in between the larger shrubs and trees.
Maybe I could find the variety with a search. Lets see.....
....yes, they are commonly known as Helleborus, and nicknames include 'Christmas roses or Lenten roses. The flowers appear in winter and early spring and come in green, white, pink, and blackish red. I have seen most of these colours here in the park. A nice change from the very drab looking flowerbeds at this time of year.
