Riverside walk in Guildford : Actifit Report Card: April 22 2026

in Actifit16 days ago

We found ourselves in Guildford once again today, due to unforeseen circumstances, but we had time to kill so we headed for the riverside walk.

After crossing the bridge from the town centre, we were quickly onto the riverside path. It was amazing how the scenery changed as soon as we started walking the path.

Milmead lock can be found here which provides access for boats avoiding the weir which is a little further down the way.

A nice place for a nap! Like this swan sunning itself on the bank of the river. I have provided borh a wide angle photo and a zoomed one to give perspective of this lovely scene.

There is much more to explore here but we didn't have enough time today. We'll be back another day. It was a glorious walk in glorious conditions today.

Locks have always intrigued me. Sadly I have only had a chance to explore one Lock back in Indiana, and it was no longer functional just preserved for future generations.😊
Looks like a beautiful place for a walk, sounds like you enjoyed your day!😊

I have used locks on a canal boat holiday a long time ago in my early adult years. It was fun but can take a while to negotiate especially if there are more than one in a row.

Sounds very interesting, I have heard it's a slow process...
My youngest son used to work for National Geographic cruise line, and I believe he either went through the Panama or Suez Canal!👍😀

A very nice place to visit and only a stones throw from the high street.
