We had some seriously noisy thunderstorms overnight. The ground is damp today, making it feel a bit humid but less hot.
It was good to have some cloud cover as well on our walk around Tilgate Walled gardens. I have only previously visited the nature centre here and the tea room before, which are right beside these pretty gardens, so it was a surprise to see how beautiful it is.

There is even a small maze, with a central wooden viewing platform but unfortunately that as closed for repairs so we couldn't go in.

I love gardens like this with plenty of hidden nooks, devided by narrow pathways. Walking around is like an adventure! 😆.

The gardens are free to enjoy, but there is a small fee to visit the nature centre here. The whole garden is surrounded by a brick built wall on two sides with old stables and other buildings making up the other two sides.

The gate in my picture shows the exit to Tilgate Park, a very large publuc area consisting of three lakes, full size public golf course, restaurants and other activities and amusements. A very popular park, especially at weekends.

Having the tea room so close is more than tempting, and it has a large outside sitting area too, superb for an outing like today. So using the facilities is a no brainer. It would be rude not to! 🤣
