It's hotting up! : Actifit Report Card: July 6 2026

This shrub caught my eye while out and about. I have seen this plant many times before but not when it is in full bloom like this.

It is beautiful! The flowers are attached directly to the branches just under the new shoots each year. They leave behind a scar on the branches at each intersection like a marker which could be used to calculate the plants age. Just count backwards down the stem.

It probably wouldn't be accurate though. Just a rough estimate, give or take a year.

Today was just over the 30°C mark. For the next five days we expect 30+!

I'm off on a cycling trip tomorrow. Just after surise to beat the heat! 🤣

Thanks, yes it is getting hotter by the day, around 30°C today. I didn't get out on my bike this morning but I will very soon. Obviously, due to the heat I need to ride early as possible.

How exciting to see this photo. I've 😊seen this plant in an online shopping app and I created an image of it using AI. Looks so similar🤗. This is called bottle brush plant.

Stay hydrated. The temperature there is nothing compared to here coupled with high humidity. 🥵
