We have footpaths and bridalways here in the UK that cross electric rail lines. This particular crossing has been upgraded to include coloured lights for additional safety. This has been installed since I last crossed here a while ago.
The gate does not lock and unlock though but I suppose it is an improvement.
It seems ears and eyes are not sufficient these days 🤣.

Yes, eyes and ears are the most important thing. Paying too much attention to lights, bells and whistles is counter productive.
