And The Rain Continued ☔️……..My Actifit Report Card: March 20 2026

in Actifit18 hours ago (edited)

As I headed out to work this morning, you couldn’t miss the peppery rain that was falling. Where I park my car at home outside, there’s a place that if I am too much to the left, requires a balancing act and large steps to get in the car and remain dry. 😏

Such was the case this morning. I headed on down the mountain to the valley below. Lake Nooksack was even higher, if such a thing was possible, than last evening when I came home. I do wish I had a picture, but suffice it to say driving and picture taking is a true definition of distracted driving! I took the first picture at8:00 AM of the USGS/NOAA river website.

I set about working on things I needed to do and the day began. I checked periodically the river level. It was increasing, but slowly. Rain was still coming down. Two PM came and I visited website once again. This was what I found.

Oh my! We’d gone beyond flood stage while I wasn’t looking! I told Lisa we would check again in the next hour, but be prepared to start moving things in the clinic. Three PM came and here’s the shot.

Okay, we officially started pulling files and drawers and many things, boxing them up and setting them on higher ground. Then, the rain stopped and the clouds were gone! However, that didn’t mean we were in the clear yet! I’d checked the low end of where the snow started and the temperature. 3000’ and 41 degrees with rain! Uh-oh, definitely not good! Snowmelt and runoff were still in the game and could increase the river level! At closing time, this was the level.

Whew! 😅 Looks like we’re in the clear-right? Well, maybe, for the next hour showed this!

It was on the rise again! That’s the problem with runoff, tributaries that feed into the Nooksack River and other water sources. It’s a delayed effect.

Fortunately, for the City of Everson, Nooksack and Sumas, I believe we are in the clear. As both the doc and myself agreed- I’d rather move stuff and in the end, not needed to do it than not do it and have to deal with all that wet cleanup again!!

In case you missed the pictures in December from our last flood, here’s a bit of a refresher.

We had close to 15”+ in the clinic from that time. It was a mess. I feel moving the files, electronics and whatnot, was a smart move regardless. Less potential heartache and cleanup! 😎

I’ll continue to watch the levels tonight, but I think it’s safe to say that we dodged the bullet this time! 😅😁😎

That’s gonna be it for me. Take care and enjoy the rest of your day wherever you are! 🙏🌏🙏

BSB Luke 15:1-7

Now all the tax collectors and sinners were gathering around to listen to Jesus. So the Pharisees and scribes began to grumble: “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”
Then Jesus told them this parable: “What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the pasture and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders, comes home, and calls together his friends and neighbors to tell them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my lost sheep!’ In the same way, I tell you that there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous ones who do not need to repent.

Hmm... Hopscotch to the car!
But it's no joke, what you're dealing with! Yes, moving the files, electronics and whatnot was a smart move, especially if you don't have to work tomorrow! You'll never know!
Thanks for sharing sis, I'll pray that you won't have a repeat of December!

What a vivid and thoughtful recounting of your day! It sounds like you were navigating uncertainty with both practical wisdom and a calm spirit moving things just in case, staying vigilant, and trusting your instincts even when the rain stopped. That kind of foresight and care for the work and people around you speaks volumes.

And the way you wove in the parable of the lost sheep feels especially fitting. There’s something profound about the vigilance of a shepherd or someone watching a river level who pays attention to what might be overlooked or swept away, and acts with urgency and compassion. Whether it’s a flood threatening a clinic or one sheep wandering from the fold, the heart of the story is the same: what matters is worth watching over, worth acting for, worth celebrating when it’s safe.

Glad you and the clinic came through this one. May your night be quiet, your river levels stay steady, and your rest be well earned. 🙏🌧️➡️🌤️
