illuminating the skies at roppongi hills : November 7 2025

here we are finally with the revenge nightwalk. but did we really have a revenge?

housemate js really came with the plan for this. it was quite herculean to walk from home to the venue, just very far and time consuming. so the plan this time was to ride the train to a closer station, enjoy the venue, and have a nightwalk on the way home. plausible!

1000046934.jpg

arriving at nogizaka station, we had to go through the maze of buildings and streets to reach the destination. up these steps brings us to street level, and just across a main wide street is the roppongi hills.

1000046937.jpg1000046938.jpg

we found it difficult to cross that main street though, so we decided to go under to the subway station, roppongi. good thing though because there was a station stamp for that. series 03 were manufactured from 1988 till 1994, and were in operation until february of 2020. although they were completely removed in tokyo, they were sold out to other train lines outside tokyo where some are still running till this day.

we continued walking underground and exited up these escalators to the hills.

roppongi hills is actually a commercial complex with the mall, a movie house, and a museum among other things. we saw these lights right away when we got up those escalator steps. and then got surprised by the people gobbling up these sight.

and yes that is a spider sculpture.

1000046957.jpg

let me talk about it cause i just learned about it as well. this sculpture was actually made by french-american artist louise bourgeois. the spider sculpture is called maman, french for mommy, an ode to the artists' mother. that sac underneath contained 32 white and grey marble "eggs" emphasizing motherhood. aside from here, maman is also permanently found in the uk, canada, spain, qatar, south korea, and three in the us.

that moon was a paid actor by the way.

another very visible art on the hills is the tokyo tower and the newly built azabudai hills. this sight is also a stable when strolling around up here. those yellow lights are still really something to be astonished. though this tower is no longer the tallest, it still has it's charms.

1000046946.jpg

and this couple agrees! just look at them enjoying that tower as well.

1000046952.jpg

and here was another portion filled with lights. it was nothing but extraordinary. that view of the tower also made it special. i really wanted to take a better picture with the lights on the streets and the yellow tower lights but it was just impossible, people were hogging the best spots. i had to raise my hands up and take a picture from overhead. it was that crowded. and people stayed there unmoving taking pictures of the same thing and videos of the same site all over. i can't blame them though, that sight was something to behold. but the picture i took was not the best at all.

but don't you feel happy just seeing those lights? these lights make me giggle like a kid.

1000046955.jpg

and amidst all the chaos, i also witnessed a man proposing to his future wife. it was just so romantic. and he chose to do it at such a bright place. chaotic though but married life can be chaotic anyway. naturally, people around them clapped and cheered. we don't know then but i cheered for them as well. two less lonely people in the world!

as always, AMPING KANUNAY!
