as a nightwalker, i have come to appreciate simple locations like these where i get to see simple life. and that orangey and reddish lights are just an icing. reddish orange lights taken at night is just a very special view. at least in japan that works.

empty streets like these also have some charm to it. this was in yanaka ginza, a very charming shopping street. we had different ways of getting to this street, i even suggested to housemate js that we pass by a cemetery. she refused obviously.

hon - komagome (本駒込駅)

the station came out of the blue, i was not the navigator this time so all of these will be a surprise to me. our nightwalk this time will be another collection of subway train stamps. train nerds will surely love this.

this station is served by the namboku line, a line which opened since 1991. and since the time it opened, train series 9000 has exclusively been used. i guess a new model will be expected in the future.

1000047709.jpg

this area is very foreign to me, i never knew universities like this one existed around here. just look at how classy and modern this building is. that is a university by the way, and quite a famous one based on a banner outside regarding a global ranking. would you be encouraged to study if your university looks like this? for me, i guess i would feel more stressed, i need trees and plants around me to be effective in school.

at least there were still wide open spaces around. this metallic sparrow sculpture is quite common around public parks, by the way.

myogadani (茗荷谷駅)

1000047714.jpg1000047715.jpg

i never knew that i could find a unicorn here in japan! very interesting! this fish with a head is quite unique, too. these mythical creatures are found here in kaiserslautern square, a small park dedicated for the sisterhood of the cities of bunkyo (where we are now) and kaiserslautern of germany.

1000047716.jpg1000047719.jpg

the station stamp is also unique, for the past times we have been collecting multi colored stamps. this is a nod to a basic stamp, most likely based on a physical ink stamp version. series 2000 is the newest train type used in the marunouchi line just to add.

edogawabashi (江戸川橋駅)

1000047720.jpg1000047721.jpg

this nightwalk has been filled with ups and downs, literal that is. this part of tokyo has been nothing but hilly. this instant was a very deep downhill slope. i am just glad we were going down, but i feel sorry for the people needing to climb up. the kohinata shrine (小日向神社) is at the slope of this hill as well so people visiting will really have to climb, sadly.

crossing the kanda river before reaching the station.

1000047723.jpg1000047726.jpg

this station is serviced by the yurakucho line, of which the train series 17000 has been in operation starting 2021. i specifically loved this train stamp because of that simple edogawabashi station label in front of the train. it is unique to my eyes, the very first i have seen. that simple detail made this stamp very special.

kagurazaka (神楽坂駅)

1000047727.jpg1000047730.jpg

kagurazaka stamp features the series 05, a strain used since 1988. this station was also new to me, never stepped foot on its streets.

1000047732.jpg

but boy look at these streets, nothing but spectacular! the street lights are romantic, one warm toned and another cold one. it is but a very small street, looks like a one way. but the small streets did not prevent the many people from enjoying the small shops around. historically, this area was an entertainment district with geisha's wooden sandals clopping on the cobbled streets.

1000047733.jpg

zenkokuji (善國寺) was at the center of this tree lined main street. it was just lovely! i wanted to enter the shrine and explore some more.

back home

1000047735.jpg

we just continued walking on this straight street until we reached the iidabashi station where we boarded for home. this white christmas tree stole the show for me though. the iidabashi station is the only familiar one in this string of stations.

it just feels so good to explore new places.

as always, AMPING KANUNAY!

Nice.. more train stamps 😆 thank you for taking us around Tokyo. I find your night walks fascinating. Japan looks so peaceful and quiet, definitely so unlike Manila. 😅 An advance happy weekend..
