One of my main tasks for the day was to service my motorcycle. The chain was loose and making a lot of noise; I was afraid it would come off and leave me stranded.
So, I cleaned the chain with a brush and gasoline, letting the gasoline evaporate on the chain. Then, with a rag soaked in more gasoline, I cleaned it again. It came out quite clean.
Next, using an applicator and a brush, I applied gear oil as a lubricant. I was advised to do it this way because gear oil is much thicker than regular oil, but not as thick as grease. This way, dust and dirt don't get stuck in the chain, damaging it over time.
