Hey Actifitters,
Before deciding what to do yesterday, we first relaxed in the yard again with the furry sisters.
I really didn't want to, but I made the reasonable decision and finished the yard work I couldn't complete the day before. The yard is now all mowed and good for at least a couple of weeks! However, that made us a bit late for my original plan to maybe go to Kensington Metropark. Instead we decided to go to Carpenter Lake Nature Preserve. It's just a 10 minutes drive and it's a good change from our usual forest. Kaia was excited to walk in a different place for once.
The first part is not so different from our forest though, except their large rain water puddles aren't all dried up yet.
Kaia stays on-leash in this park, but she had temporary freedom to check out the teepees again. They aren't so different from ours.
I didn't see much progress in the construction compared to last time we were there. Kaia checked too from above and she agreed, let's keep going.
Of course, she wanted to get to the water quickly, that's one of the main features of this small park. So different from last time, everything is so green everywhere, and especially along the lake.
She had to stay calm for a few photos, in spite of people passing by and even a few ducks on the water.
The next area is still supposed to be closed, but I'm glad we did like pretty much everybody else and went around the temporary fences. I like these wild meadows.
But after a while, we went back to the water because the sunset was approaching and also I had noticed a possible path to better views.
And indeed it was beautiful there, even with the mosquitoes!
Kaia wanted to go further of course, but it was getting a bit too wet.
So we followed the unofficial path in the other direction.
Beautiful too! Especially with the reflections (again, I kept many photos for a reflections post, maybe some day...)
In every forest, I have to get one of these views, the sun through the trees...
We then headed to the rock garden near the park entrance, it's usually the best spot for the sunset.
It was good timing with the golden hour light hitting these big rocks. Not sure it's actually the best photo today, but I find the rock garden interesting, so I'll use it for my participation in #AroundTheWorld contest:
Obviously Kaia had to pose again. Poor Kaia, lots of modeling today!
Then we just sat down and waited for the sun to finish its descent behind the horizon. Well, not Kaia of course, she's not exactly a fan of slowing down and taking it easy. But she behaved well, and just observed the other people visiting the rock garden.
Almost gone...
And that's it, sunset was already over.
We stayed a few more minutes, enjoying the calm moment. And eventually, after one last photo of the remaining colors, it was time to drive back home.
Well, we didn't exactly follow the plan but yesterday was a good day, yard work is done for a few days, we had plenty of steps (although not enough to reach the bar in #poprzeczka competition) and saw a beautiful sunset in an interesting place. In other words, a good Sunday! Onto the new week now!
As always, thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow.
