Hey Actifitters,
We were still in the middle of all these heat advisories yesterday. The worst part is not only is it very hot and humid during the day, but it doesn't get much better at night. So it's easy to want to be like Le Chat...
But once again we forced ourselves to take multiple breaks outside. Not that it changes much what Le Chat does, it's just the same, but outside!
During one of these breaks, we saw this deer in the neighbors yard across the street. I don't mind when Kaia chases deer in the forest, in fact I may even encourage it, so she burns the extra energy.
But in this case, she crossed the street without paying attention to cars. Luckily traffic is low and nothing happened. But it's the first time she does that. Normally she starts chasing, I yell 'stop' and she stops before the street. Well, not this time. She was so focused on the deer, she didn't even notice the ditch to enter the neighbors yard and fell pretty bad. I wanted to scold her for ignoring my commands but noticed she was stunned and in pain from that fall. So she only had to do a few long down/stays, it's challenging for her when the deer is still in the vicinity. Then we slowly walked to our side and near the small forest.
Definitely still shaken up and also limping pretty bad, although I could not be sure which leg was bothering her.
We stayed near the edge of the small forest for a while.
Until Le Chat joined us and quickly went back to her favorite activity.
Apparently Kaia wanted to tell her all about her latest mishap.
I thought we'd try to walk it off and started in the direction of the bigger forest. But after maybe half a mile, I could see Kaia was still struggling and limping, so we turned around, even though the forest entrance was right there in view.
Once Kaia was safely resting at home, I went for another bike ride, third day in a row. Like I said, it's an easier activity for me when it's too hot outside. Not as long as the previous days, but still a pretty nice ride, with a sunset bonus!
And a few areas that I rediscovered and now want to revisit soon.
Well, we're handling this bad heat wave fairly well so far, but I do hope it gets better soon. However, forecast say that in spite of possible storms, it will stay hot for a while. If it's hot AND rainy, then I'm not sure how to keep the step count up. We'll see how it goes.
I think Kaia should be fine after a little rest but I'll keep monitoring her, especially her limping.
As always, thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow.
