Hey Actifitters,
Yesterday was mostly a yard work day. Like I said many times, this is really not my favorite, but it needed to be done, especially just before my trip, so the City doesn't complain about the tall grass or anything while I'm gone. As usual, it got me a lot of steps! But it took me longer than expected and we had very little time for a walk with Kaia. We did quickly go behind the front yard, literally just a few minutes.
That was enough for Kaia to enjoy a bit of exploration. After being patient while I was mowing the lawn, she deserved it.
Then it was time for what was supposed to be the highlight of the day: The Offspring concert at Pine Knob Music Theater. It would have been our first outdoor concert of the season. For once we arrived fairly early, around 7:20pm, in spite of some bad traffic again. We were lucky getting a parking spot that would have allowed us to leave very quickly after the show. It was quite hot, but the sun was out. So all was going really well until we arrived at the gates and were told the power was out! First band was canceled, they're not sure yet about the other two... We were quite patient and waited for an hour. Still no news, so we gave up and it was a good decision because around 9pm they finally announced officially it was canceled (press release below). Bummer! So on the way back, we got food to put on the grill and improvised a BBQ. It ended up being a great evening/night and I finally left my friend's place probably much later than if we had seen the concert! I'm used to very late nights, she's not so much, morning might not be easy... So of course, it was a disappointment not to see The Offspring, but we made the best of it anyways. And hopefully we can make it if they managed to reschedule the show.
Back at home later, Le Chat graced us with her presence: after eating, she stayed about 5 minutes, which is about the longest she stayed with us recently!
Like I said, even with the concert disappointment, it was a very nice day to end the week. And my step count was great, I'm still alive in #poprzeczka competition!
As always, thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow.
Pop-punk bands New Found Glory and Jimmy Eat World also were scheduled to perform at the outdoor theater Sunday. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/entertainment/music/2025/07/27/power-outage-cancels-the-offspring-concert-at-pine-knob/85400034007/
