Hey Actifitters,
We had quite the busy day planned yesterday but with this sunny weather early afternoon, we couldn't resist spending time in the yard first.

As usual, Le Chat was maximum effort! Just switching her spot on the old doggie bed from time to time...

Beautiful foliage colors in the yard.

Since we didn't have enough time for a full walk in our usual forest, we reverted as often to a short loop in the small forest behind the front yard.

Kaia was ready for fun!

Plenty more fall colors in the forest.

We followed the edge for a bit.

And of course added a little distance in the neighborhood where you can find some nice colors too.

Before leaving, I gave old sandwiches to Kaia (that's a good thing nothing gets wasted when you have a dog). Le Chat was interested but apparently Kaia wasn't ready to share. Then she figured out something was going on and kept an eye on things, while Le Chat went back to bed.

The reason we were short on time is that I had to go to Detroit to pick up my bib for the Detroit half Marathon on Sunday. Every time we go to Detroit (less than 30 minutes from home), we don't really take the time to enjoy the city. But somehow, every year, when I pick up my race packet, I do spend time walking in the city. So you might recognize places from my posts the previous year on the day before the race. First view when exiting the conference center where you pick up the packets is Windsor, Ontario across the river on the Canadian side.

Rain and storms were in the forecast for the evening but we still had a little bit of sun, especially behind the Ambassador Bridge. It doesn't look like it from here, but the slight uphill on that bridge is a killer during the first part of the race.

First view of the GM building, or Renaissance Center, or whatever it's called now. I also like this portion of aerial metro, the People Mover.

Last year I'm pretty sure I used the Transcending Monument (seen on the cover picture) for the #Aroundtheworld contest, so this time I'll use the Horace E. Dodge and Son Memorial Fountain located around the center of Hart Plaza. I find it interesting, especially with the skyline in the background.

We followed a classic route with the Monument to Joe Louis next. The Porta potty isn't the best background but for that angle I didn't have much choice.

A quick stop at the Spirit of Detroit. I hope we can see it with one of our teams jersey soon again. They haven't won anything in a while.

And to finish this mini tour, the Guardian Building. I probably said that in the past but in itself it's already a beautiful building, but I like the contrast with that modern Zuzu restaurant in the foreground.

The day wasn't over yet, as we had a show to attend at the Detroit Opera House, a dance show called Stars of American Ballet. Like I mentioned many times, in our Opera subscription, I usually prefer actual operas to dance shows. But I guess it wasn't bad, with various different styles, including a part with music from an old French singer Jacques Brel. Surprising to hear these old songs here.

And the beauty inside the Opera House is always a bonus.

Well, that was quite a busy day with a decent number of steps. Now I just need to run the damn race on Sunday (spoiler: it was rainy, windy and mostly miserable).
As always, thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow.
