A surprising invite from my brother brought me all the way to Belgium!
This Easter is unfolding beautifully in Zutendaal, surrounded by my boys and the rest of the family.
As always with my family, games full of laughter are expected; yet, a relaxing walk is also a beloved custom.
Perfect for everyone from our active five-year-old to our wise 76-year-old, the objective this morning was for a picturesque but reasonable climb.
Here in the Hoge Kempen National Park, particularly around the Lieteberg region, a network of color-coded trails beckoned.
We opted for the shortest, a lovely 4-kilometer loop.
Adding the extra two kilometers to and from our charming vacation home made for a perfect little expedition.
Though I have hardly touched on it, it was also the perfect opportunity to explore my new smartwatch through its many capabilities!
I excitedly started recording our trip as soon as we left the cottage door. True to its promise, the watch flawlessly tracked every kilometer and step.
Our holiday cottage, nestled within a picturesque park, truly feels like a tranquil forest retreat.
And the walk itself was full of delightful encounters!
A stunning Belgian Draught horse, elegant riders on horseback, and the gentle giants of the highlands—the Highland cattle— welcomed us.
The highlight for my two nephews was surely the pond filled with tiny cute tadpoles.
Their innate curiosity was contagious; they gently returned a few to their watery home after carefully scooped a couple for a closer look.
The trees were already covered in vivid new green foliage from the recent refreshing rain, and the blossoms were showing amazing beauty.
All that fresh air and wonder certainly earned us a delicious lunch afterwards!
Goodnight everyone, and wishing you a healthy tomorrow.
Wishing you all the best in life and much health.
