The last day of our southwestern US trip was a long drive from San Francisco to Los Angeles. We have made it even longer by choosing the scenic Pacific Coast Highway - California nr 1. The part nearest to San Francisco had been damaged by landslides and we could join it only before Mill Creek Bridge. To do so, we had to cut the Los Padres National Forest. The mountains reach over 1700m asl and drop steeply to the ocean. The road was very scenic, but could be potentially dangerous in different weather.
We made numerous stops - to watch elephant seals, to eat and to fuel. The whole trip took 11hrs but was worth it.
All the good things come to an end. So did our southwestern US trip. I will be writing detailed posts on each stage later, as time allows.
