Eight Years Together

in Actifit2 days ago

Yesterday was an eight year anniversary of our meeting. We met on a photoshoot at my lake house. At the time, I had a second job as a photographer, and my future wife came in as a client.

I liked her that first day. She was beautiful, thin, with great legs, blond, and very organized with all her outfits pre-planned. I have never seen a female client who was this prepared for the photoshoot.

I have invited her for a tea in the middle of the shoot, not knowing that she is a big fan of tea drinking. We drink around five to ten cups of tea these days.

She didn't want to shoot any extra outfits or locations. She was a great tipper 😀 She left very quickly afterward. She has her daily activity planned in fifteen minute increments.

Even after retirement from her executive career, she is still like that.

Fast forward eight years and over five years of marriage, and I am even more excited about her than I was that day.

For the anniversary, I gave her the fifty pink roses that you see in the image above and the box of whiskey chocolate truffles from our favorite chocolate place, Frans. I also took her out to a new restaurant that has been open for around nine months.

It is a family owned Italian restaurant Rimini in Kirkland. I ordered a seafood pasta dish that was great, and my wife ordered cheese stuffed pasta dish with chicken.

Both dishes were delicious, and we also had some bread with olive oil that they had brought as well as an arugula salad.

The place was really nice not just in terms of the quality of the food, but also the atmosphere with live music and very attentive service.

Our table was served by a lady who was originally from Bulgaria. But there were at least four other people who served us. We came around thirty minutes after opening, and there were already people there, and it filled up pretty quickly after we sat down.

For desert, we ordered a Tiramisu cake, and it was simply amazing melting in your mouth and absolutely delicious.

I also had a Manhattan drink that seemed very much like an old-fashioned with a cherry and orange peel on a pick and in the glass that I am more used to seeing used for old-fashioned and not for Manhattan.

After we were done, they brought us free Champagne, and the owner of the restaurant came over and played a guitar and sang in Italian at our table. They didn't even know that we came out for a special occasion.

It was super nice, and after that, we walked out of the restaurant and walked to the beach on the lake. That was just a few steps away from the restaurant. The weather was warm and sunny, and we sat down on the bench with a view on water and skyscrapers of downtown Seattle.

It was a great way to end our evening. At home, I was very much looking forward to my new shorts that my wife gave me as a gift and my peacan pie from Texas she got just for me through Goldbelly and a very nice card.

There was no time for the Splinterlands post today, even though I was planning to make one. It can wait a few days.

The shorts story is a funny one, I like to wear shorts at home and I always carry a phone in my pocket. It tends to fall out, causing my wife some grief as it hits our floor, really hard.

So, in a very much her solution oriented style, she gave me shorts last year with a zipper on the right pocket. Problem solved, except that I wore them so much that I totally wore out the material everywhere and the zipper broke.

There were the most comfortable shorts that I have ever had. So yesterday she got me new ones and also from Nike. These have slightly different materials, so hopefully, they will last longer :)

This is what it is like to be days away from forty-nine years old. Things that really excite me are pecan pie, new shorts, and my beautiful wife, of course 😊
