This past weekend we had a really nice gateway to Whidbey Island. We started our trip to the island on Saturday morning and drove to Mukulteo to take a ferry to Clinton.
We barely missed the ferry as we arrived at the terminal so after a short wait, which included us buying a bag of salted caramel popcorn from a boyscouts who were selling their stuff to the cars waiting in line to board the ferry.
As we boarded the ferry we decided to look at the water as the ferry departed. We were looking out for dolphins and Orcas, none were in sight, but we did see lots of jelly fish.
The water was very calm and dark this time. It is always different, this time it was like a black mirror. Even though the weather was very warm during the day, in the morning it was still cold especially moving over the ocean water of the Puget Sound.
When we arrived in Clinton we took a short drive to a farmers market where we picked up locally baked bread, local honey and fruit and vegetables.
The ladies even picked up some yarn. After the farmers market we stopped by the historic town of Langley. We tried to get into our favorite sea food place Oyster House, but they had a wait of over an hour, so we settled for their sister property Prima Bistro.
I ordered their burger and French fries and an old fashioned. The burger was delicious and the old fashioned didn't come with the traditional single large ice cube. It had ice that you would normally find in your coke, but it was in a larger than usual glass and was very potent. I must admit that I have really enjoyed it.
After the restaurant we drove to our house where I did some yard work and setting up security cameras around the property.
After that we managed to get away to a beach nearby where we hunted for crabs with our daughter. It was really fun for her, but it was more of a catch and release operation where she would hop from one stone to another and would release the little crabs and watch them escape under water.
As we came back home we watched a political satire movie on Netflix called "Don't Look Up" It was a movie that started really slow and seemed a bit overstretched, but it featured a star filled cast and was impactful if you managed to watch it until the end.
The next morning we woke up, had a nice breakfast at home then went to explore the shops nearby. There wasn't much to shop for but we did managed to find a store where we bought a set of crystal wine glasses, blue vase and a nice serving tray with a metal crab on it.
Finding a place to eat on a Sunday morning proved to be a little challenging on the island, so we came back to the house for a meal. After that we drove to the South Whidbey park for a nice walk.
From there we drove to the Spyglass Beach nearby. There were lots of people fishing there, we enjoyed walking the sandy beach and picked sea glass and shells.
I didn't take any pictures of the Spyglass Beach, I guess that I was too busy enjoying the beach, warm sun on my skin and the company of my ladies :)
After the beach we drove to the Dancing Fish winery where we did a little bit of wine tasting and picked up a few bottles of red and white wine for our house.
After that we had a really healthy appetite and drove to Langley where we ate at one and only ramen place on Whidbey Island.
The ramen was excellent as usual and we had a great time there. We did make a decision to have dessert at a different place where we ordered a chocolate and huckleberry ice cream and sat outside on the waterfront enjoying our ice cream.
It was one of the last warm and sunny days in Seattle area and we really made the most out of it and my steps over the last few days really reflected it.
There was not much time to check on Hive or Splinterlands during the weekend.
Today was back to work and I was able to enter the Brawl battles before they ended. We got a third place in our Brawl in Plan B. We lost by one win to second place because one of our players didn't enter any battles.
This morning was also the end of the season and I am starting to accumulate glint as my reward cards are practically maxed out.
The new reward cards can't come soon enough...
