Hosting Family for the Weekend

in Actifit2 days ago

This weekend we hosted my wife's side of the family for the first time in our new house. They came over on Saturday and we spent all Saturday and Sunday with them.

My brother in law drove over my mother in law and his girlfriend. They came over around noon on Saturday and actually made it to our house faster than anticipated as my brother in law likes to drive his car very fast and they got lucky with ferry timing.

My wife was the main hostess with me playing her assistant. She organized a really nice Georgian home cooked meal with khinkali, khachapuri, soup, Georgian sauce and three different salads as well as pirozki.

Everything tasted delicious and she also had our daughter set the table. My wife also surprised me with a small house warming gift which were hand made napkin holders that were all ocean themed. You see one in the first pictures where there is a drawing of a crab inside a seashell.

It was nice to share a meal and conversation with our relatives as well as catch up on the latest happenings with everyone. We talked about the dental business and how hard it is to hire a dental hygienist in the Seattle area these days.

Even the cheapest dental hygienists straight out of school want $85 in hour plus full dental and medical benefits, and everything else. With that and insurance companies refusing to reimburse much more than $100 per cleaning dental hygienist became a net negative for the business.

We also went for a nice walk on the beach, we usually look for shells and sea glass on the beach, but this time we focused more on just enjoying the beach, the sea waves, sun and the company.

Our daughter was also very excited to walk my brother in law's dog - a little Yorkie which he brought with him.

We also had a nice fire by the ocean and enjoyed the marshmallows and some dark chocolate. It was really nice and warm by the fire!

We also showed them the small historic town of Langley and visited a really nice Ramen place that everyone really enjoyed.

I would say that it was a perfect weekend!

Looks like it was an amazing weekend for you! I spent most of the day on Saturday doing yard work :P

Yes, it was a pretty amazing weekend! Yard work is also necessary, I will be doing that next weekend :)

I still have a couple more chores I have to get done to button things up for winter.

Marshmallow with the fire, can't think of anything more typical American 😄

Yep, we are very much with the American culture in many things despite our Soviet backgrounds :)

Sounds like an awesome time with your wife family!😀
