A Day on the Island

in Actifit4 days ago

Today I spent a whole day on Whidbey Island. It started with me waking up in the morning and as usual making a coffee for my wife. I don't drink coffee so I didn't have any. Then I fried eggs for us and then my wife went on her Zoom calls and I jumped in the car and drove to Mukulteo.

My timing wasn't great and I missed the ferry by about five to ten minutes, it departed just as I drove up. So after waiting for about half an hour I finally boarded the ferry. The Puget Sound was nice and calm this morning:

After a short ferry ride I have drove off the ferry and drove to our Whidbey Island home. There I have unloaded the car and started on edging the lawn. I have not done edging on this lawn for about a year, so the lawn was in a pretty bad shape edge wise and it took extra long.

After I was done with edging I mowed the lawn and did some fertilizing. Then I switched over to weed pulling, that is actually a very time consuming task. I allocated a limited time to weeding and after that I trimmed the hedges on the side of the house and in our front yard.

With the dirty part of my work complete I took a shower and took the time to drink some water and lemonade, it was very hot and sunny today and even on the island it was eighty degrees today. So it is important to stay hydrated.

I then switched over to working on sauna electrical wiring. It is actually a bit more complicated than the last sauna that I bought from Costco over a decade ago. They now have a safety circle which doubles the amount of wiring between the heater and the external power box.

I have also installed the heat sensor as well as the LED controller panel for the sauna. It all takes time and by the time the technician from Judd and Black arrived at around three thirty I had these things done.

I talked to the technician and determined that he really doesn't need me, so while he ran the diagnostic on the winecooler I continued working on the sauna. I have installed temperature and humidity gage inside the sauna and loaded up four boxes of sauna rocks that were shipped from Finland.

The technician finished his tests and determined that he needs to come back on July 30th with another dude and they are going to pull out the winecooler and run additional specialized testing. He said the winecooler is loosing about a gram of refrigerant per month and that there is a micro leak.

He said that the winecooler might have a factory defect that is almost impossible to fix. If testing confirms what he is suspecting then they will get a brand new winecooler from True.

The sauna is really coming along and I only need to connect it to the power center. But that is something that I'm going to do this Thursday when I am going to be back to meet with the Culligan water filtration people to service the whole house water softener and the six stage water filtration system under the sink.

Overall it was a very productive day on Whidbey Island.

How far is the drive and the ferry ride to the island from where you live?

My car tracks the time and mileage. Excluding ferry wait which was about 20 minutes and fifteen minute ferry ride, the driving portion was 65 miles and almost two hours total so an our drive each way plus ferry...

That's not too bad then. About like people who have cabins up north here.

Wow your view on the island is so lovely 😍 Good to know you're so techie that you could work on electrical stuff. Wish I have that knowledge and skill too. 😅 I !HOPE your winecooler gets fixed soon. Enjoy your week!
