“Flood Watch, And One More!”😳
Well that’s a new one for Silvertop, I don’t believe I have ever seen the weather forecast with “One More” Lol!😅
As the Crow flies, our town, at the foot of Sumas Mountain, is 13 to 16 miles from the coast…………
If the Ocean floods 13 miles inland, I think we are all in very big trouble!😇
The Nooksack River has come very close to flooding twice this year already.
Everyone in the valley is prepared…….just in case this storm sends the river over its banks ………….this time!🙄
“Silvertop I just checked the USGS river level for Everson, and they are saying it’s 74.02 feet and flood stage is 83 feet!”😮
So far so good!👍
Did you notice “Today’s” severe weather warning is for “Monday” at 4PM “Next week”……….🤔
They are saying ….”Severe loss of life or property!”😳
Being so close to the Ocean, Silvertop has said many times that the weather can turn on a dime……….
Let’s hope it does this time as well!😇

Yikes, I hope that you guys (cats included) stay high and dry with all that potential flooding, my friend! I think the 'and one more' is because it's a two-for-one deal, where you get double the rain! May the sun make a strong appearance post haste! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

Once again it pays to live in the foothills, we just have to be careful what road we take when we go down into the valley, some roads can be flooded!😳

Indeed, living a fair bit above sea level is a very good idea for sure. As long as you have a way in and out, you should be good. Drive carefully, my friend! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

If things really get bad, everyone up on the mountain is temporarily stuck...... that's OK I'll stay home for a while!!😀

Yes we always keep a good stock of food and supplies...... and firewood Lol!😇
We lived in the extreme high country of Colorado for years, and never needed backup supplies like we do in the Pacific Northwest Lol!😇

In 2021 we had a severe flood in the valley, one person was actually killed from the flooding! He tried to drive through floodwaters in his pick up truck, because his employer insisted he come to work, and he was afraid of losing his job.......
So we were basically trapped up on the mountain along with several small communities for a couple of days!
We just talked to one man at church this morning who is actually putting a concrete foundation under his home to jack it up in case it floods like that again!
All the communities up on the mountain are safe when this happens, we just can't drive to town!!
