“Dad…. how is Santa going to bring my “Catnip” down the chimney with a fire burning in the wood stove?”😻
“Don’t worry my furry child, I think that green package he is carrying is Fireproof Lol!”😇
Liz wanted to treat Silvertop and herself, to a Christmas Eve Starbucks, and on the way to the town of Lynden, I spotted his reindeer munching on someone’s front lawn Lol!🤣
“Santa…. Don’t forget the Silvertop’s, remember we live up in the foothills of the Mountains!”☺️
Many a snow storm, has left us stranded on the Mountain…….FOR DAYS!😳
“Maybe that’s not such a bad idea Liz…. Just you and me alone for days Lol!”🥰
Two years ago on this very day, it was a very different story!😮
A bitter cold “Nor’easter” wind brought deep snow to the Pacific Northwest!🥶
Silvertop’s Solar panels were covered with a thick layer of snow and ice. Our backup gasoline generator was running low on fuel, and the Mountain Pass was blocked by dozens of cars that could not move forward or backward!😬
Our oldest son Michael, lives in a neighboring valley town. I told Liz I was going to put on “crampons” ( chains for my boots), and carry an empty gasoline can down the hills to a gas station to fill it up!
“Silvertop it’s 4.9 miles to town!”🙄
As I started out the door, our son was talking to Mom on the phone………..
“Tell Dad I will bring a full gasoline can up to you guys!”😍
I started hiking, I knew at best, he would make it to the bottom of the Mountain pass!
Past numerous stranded cars, I continued down towards town…….
2.5 miles I hiked, down into the valley. I found Michael’s four-wheel-drive Jeep, stuck in a line of cars trying to drive up the Mountain pass!😳
“Merry Christmas Michael, thank you so much for the gasoline!”🥰
“Merry Christmas Dad!”😍
Today as I sipped on my Starbucks Latte, as a misty rain was falling, I felt blessed!❤️
For my Family on this rainy Christmas Eve, and for a kindness of a stranger, two years ago…………….
A neighbor that lives on the Mountain that I had never met before.
He opened up his car door to a snow covered man carrying a five gallon gas can.😇
He weaved back-and-forth through a labyrinth of stranded cars on the treacherous Mountain Road!
“Silvertop… I really hate to walk!”☺️
Several times we went off the road, and back on the road, then back off the road!😳
At the bottom of my side street he truck slid to a stop……….😅
“This is about as far as I can take you my friend!”😇
