“Hiking Between The Raindrops!”😅
On a potentially rainy day like today, it’s nice to hike trails under the “Tree canopy”!😇
The Lautenbach’s trail continues steeply uphill for about 1/4 of a mile, and then connects onto the famous , or you could say infamous, “Gold Mine Trail”!😊
The Weather changed quickly from “Careful Silvertop you’ll get Sunburned”, to “Liz I think I will hike in my rain jacket today Lol!”😅
Early this Spring Silvertop ran into Chris, a coworker of the Mrs, hiking on this trail, loaded down with a backpack full of Gold prospecting equipment.
Last weekend, we ran into Chris again, shopping in town……….
“Silvertop have you been back up to the Gold Mine? We panned for Gold flakes all day up there, and never found a single flake!”🤔
Chris has become a very successful Gold prospector! In fact he recently upgraded to a professional Sluice box.
This long narrow box mimics how gold is actually deposited in the river…….. water and material flow in the top end of the box, and lighter material flow out the bottom, with the heavier gold flakes caught in the middle!🤗
“Silvertop, anytime you want, you can join us prospecting, you won’t get rich, but you will have a lot of fun!”☺️
“Thanks Chris, I will probably take you up on that sometime!”😊
I never had the heart to tell Chris, the story about the Gold Mine Trail, that I have talked about before……………😇
How a turn of the the 20th century “scammer”, salted the Gold mines, and then ran off with all the investors money!😳
“Silvertop I can’t tell you where we are prospecting this weekend, but if I hit the “Mother Load” there will be signs!”🤗💪🤣
