RE: Glenn Miller and The Army Air Force Band, for Three Tune Tuesday, Week 112 [Esp/Eng]

in Music2 years ago

Last week, when I visited @sagesigma's cool post, I told him that I would bring something really old for this #ttt, and that's what I brought today: A vinyl that belonged to my grandfather, and that stayed with me. It is an album by the great Glenn Miller, this time with his Army Air Force Band. In my opinion, Miller was one of the best American musicians who ever lived, and who in his successful career left an enormous musical legacy.

Very very cool, I love the history of this record and how sentimental it must be for you. It's so nice to have something from the generations gone by. I have china cups and saucers from my great grand mother and I love using them on occasion, if those cups could talk, they would have some stories to tell I suspect!!

These tunes were great, such easy listening. I can just picture your Grandfather playing this album for the first time. I wonder how many times it has been spun since? 100s? 1000s? More?

Thanks for this step back in time, it is like one of @wwwiebe posts in that way. Marvelous....

Oh what a nice comment @ablaze! Thank you very much, I really appreciate it. When my grandfather heard this record for the first time, I guess he would feel great (I wasn't born at the time). He really liked good music, good reading and a good cigar too, he was quite a character, always dressed in a suit and tie, even in the Venezuelan heat. And this album reminds me a lot of him. A hug. Have a nice Sunday afternoon.

It might have taken me ten days to get back to you, but I am glad I did and I am glad I did not miss this lovely message about your Grandad, Wow, he truly sounds like a legend and a real character. I'm sure he keeps an eye on you and your loved ones from the sky.

My grandfather was quite a character. He was a very educated person, even though he only studied primary school, but he was very intelligent and completely self-taught. He did many things for Venezuelan artists in the 20th century, including helping to found an organization that protected the copyrights of musicians from my country. He also did several radio programs, magazines and was a poet, he wrote several books of poetry. He was quite a character, and yes, I hope he is from heaven watching over us.

I am very happy that you have read my post, dear @ablaze, a hug.

Wow, I love hearing all about your Grandad, he sounds like he was an amazing man, and a self thought man too, like so many here in my own country in Ireland from generations gone by before education was as freely and widely available. I adore hearing about and listening to the elders in our community, they have so much to teach us if we just listen to them.
