Hello, Hivers and Music lovers!
It’s Tuesday in my corner of the world, so time to share some tunes for this #threetunetuesday.
The inspiration for today's post came to me a moment ago, when I was commenting on a post by my friend @tengolotodo, who was talking about a beer called Tropical, and I immediately thought of the song Agitations Tropicales by the French band L'Impératrice, not that the song is about beer, just in case LOL. But I felt like listening to it because of the Tropical haha, so here it is for this #ttt.
I discovered this band a little over a year ago thanks to my son. During one of our calls, he told me that he had gone with a friend to a concert by a French band that he was sure I would like, and he was right.
L' Imperatrice is a Nu-disco band. If you're wondering what that is, here's the definition from Wikipedia
Nu-disco is a 21st-century dance music genre associated with a renewed interest in the late 1970s disco, synthesizer-heavy 1980s European dance music styles, and early 1990s electronic dance music. The genre was popular in the early 2000s, and experienced a mild resurgence in the 2010s.
L' Imperatrice formed as a band in 2012. While researching information for this post, I read that their vocalist, Flore Benguigui, left the group in 2024. This was shortly after I first heard this band. Flore was replaced, but the songs I am sharing today are sung by her. It's a shame because I think she has a wonderful voice.
But before I get into the tunes, let me give you a little background if you are new to Hive and aren't familiar with #threetunetuesday. In the words of @ablaze who initiate it:
The jist is as follows
Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the prize - more on that later.
You can find out more at [https://peakd.com/hive-193816/@ablaze/red-hot-chilli-peppers-stadium-arcadium-for-three-tune-tuesday-week-244-win-some-hbi) with his recommendations for last week the #244 of the initiative.
Don't forget to support @ablaze's and if you would like to become a sponsor of #ttt like me, give him a shout out.
And now without further ado, let's go with my tunes for this week.
Tune 1 - L'Impératrice - Agitations Tropicales
The first song is, of course, Agitations Tropicales.
It was the first song of theirs that I heard, and I think it's my favorite of all the ones I've heard so far. The song is from 2015.
Tune 2 - L'Impératrice - Anomalie bleue
Anomalie bleue was released in 2020.
Tune 3 - L'Impératrice - Voodoo?
And Flore sings well in English as in French, as you can hear in this song. Voodoo? was released in 2020
Have you ever listened to L'Impératrice before?
If you liked the songs, which one did you like the most? Tell me in the comments.
Thank you very much for reading!
Enjoy the music, and enjoy life!
